ICICI BOOMRANG

This is regarding ICICI being the largest no. one private sector banks, but are they really number one in the eyes of the customer, public at large or to their own business interest. Saw the news about Icici slashing down it's Housing Loan rates but only for it's new customers. Does it means that their previous or existing customer will continue to pay high rate of interest, off course yes. Don't you feel that this will impact the faith and interest of their existing customer base. But they are always in rush to make the new customers. According to my observation their motto is not to be No one in customer satisfaction but to be no. one in churning out the more money and at the same time they are not having enough time to observe and analyse that they are loosing customer base because of their undue and unfriendly customer oriented practices. If one can see the no. of customers leaving the ICICI bank, one would understand that where they are heading towards. One factor which goes in favour of ICICI bank is that we have still much population not used to modern banking practices. But according to me SRK's and other celebrity would not bring that much benefit to the rescue of ICICI, but an introspection in the way they conduct their business and modifying the same would be only benefit in the Long run.

Govt. coming to rescue of rescuing itself.

with the inflation touching the roof and the sensex going down & down, the people at large are very happy to see Government coming to rescue through lot of benefits given to banking sector to increase liquidity and to ultimately lower down the end lending rates to the public at large. But why the Govt has woken up from the slumber so late. If these monetary measures would have taken little earlier the economy would have been in good shape by now and restructuring would have been smooth. But we have made it almost a habit to take the necessary action when water level goes above out head. But when the Govt realized that inactivity can boomerang in terms of lower vote count in next elections, it started thinking and then acting. but one must be positive also , that whatever is the motive the good things have started rolling.
another perspective of looking at this is that are we as market forces or independent banking setup so weak that we still look forward to Govt's intervention. Time to introspect .................................
are we still far away from the true open system of economy ?

Service sector - Major issues in State Road Organisations.

Hi,
As a faculty of marketing, I keep on observing the various issues on marketing in day to day life. This time I would be talking about the service quality parameters learnt by us are rarely used by the employees of some of the state owned transport buses. In certain states the situation is very pathetic and massive action is required to benefit the travellers as well as these organisations. for example the empathy and responsiveness to the passenger's requirement is at a low ebb with Haryana Roadways. In spite the great strides in technology and sophistication levels, still the model and bus design is very obsolete and having lot of body vibration and noise in most of the buses.
Some of the researchers have already commented that if road transport improved qualitatively the space on the highway and per person fuel cost can be curtailed as compared to usage of cars and private vehicles. But the planners must decide very fast on these issues.

ORGANISED RETAILING THE INITIAL GLITCHES

India organised retail sector is undergoing a massive change and it will be influenced by the typical customer behaviour, business environmental issues and regulatory framework. And it is also going the change the way urban and to some extent rural population buys goods and services. Some of the operators have started feeling the pinch in terms of inventory issues, perishable item storage and display issues, high property prices, paucity of space etc. But with all this the consumer will get more value for money day by day. Because it includes stable players with long term interest in mind. Biggies with their mammoth financial back up will sail smoothly through rough times. So Happy retailing, Happy customers & Happy marketers for future.

War of DTH service providers

With the launch of DTH service by reliance with Brand BIG TV infuriated a war of sort with immediate reaction by tata sky new tvc and then launch afterwards of the sun tv in north India. we see now the price and communication war with earlier operators wooing the customers with new and innovative and competitively priced offers. In the coming times with the implementation of newer technology like IP tv the segment is getting hotter day by day. The great market which lies with the DTH is large scatter and untapped rural market which was not covered to the greater extent by cable operators as their operations were limited to town with more density. And I feel that existing legal norms coupled with the poor technology backup the local cable operators must be ready to have a rough patch of time ahead. today the quality and content are rules of the game as evinced in the proliferation of telecom sector in urban and rural areas.

Indian Automobile sector Having hard times

Indian automobile sector despite having much potential for growth in view of the low per person penetration in cars, and increase in the money spent by consumers at large, facing difficult times. it the not because of the organisational players but the major external environmental factors are behind this. Rising fuel charges have given automotive giant HMIL to give 6 month relief to it's customer from the price hike in the fuel( quite innovative is'nt it.) And customer or rather "would be buyers' can expect the rise in the interest rate hike in the finance also which will further dampen the shine of the car makers sale. In view of this some of the Major Automobile giant like Maruti has already planned and started working on the penetration of the rural market more vigorously and making more approach in the rural areas. But one must not forget that it is the volatility of the market which helps the customer in the long run and keep everyone from selling side on it's toes.

INDIAN MARKETING GOES INNOVATIVE

Indian Marketers are seeing new ways and means to add to revenue generation. In case of many products the add-on merchandising and licencing has been very much rewarding and adding hugely to revenues. Globally the chi T-shirts sale has been a rage. In Indian context we also observe our own Hanuman(Bal Hanuman) was overnight hit and marketers used it in almost in all forms of kids oriented tools, be it keychains or boxes or wall hangings. same was with the Krissh movies doing pretty business with its mask related merchandise promotion bundling. for more details see the pages of lates 4 p's.
